ABOUT THE PLAYS:

Aesop’s Fable-ous Christmas Tree
When Aesop's fables are given a holiday spin, you'll get a mash-up of The Twelve Days of Christmas and The Tortoise and the Hare, where the six birds of Christmas compete in a comical race—with the turtle dove winning, of course; a tiny snow mouse teaches the abominable snowman that little friends may prove great friends; Ebenezer Scrooge realizes that wealth unused might as well not exist; Santa's elves dream of a life outside the workshop as they sing a "patter poem" about their ideal careers; and even though the eight reindeer panic when Rudolph gets a cold in the nose, they learn that necessity is the mother of invention. A dozen vignettes illuminate important life lessons by reinventing the classic fables, blending humor, rhythmic elements, rapping, puppetry, poetry, song and storytelling to create a fast-paced, fun-filled show that's filled with Christmas spirit.

Premiere production  at Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, TN, where Michael Gravois is in the Resident Company.

How We Met!

I am blessed to have Michael as a first cousin.  Consequently, we have known each other all of our lives. We are FAMILY!  Michael received a few extra helpings in the talent line when he was created.  He is an accomplished actor, writer, playwright and artist.  And, he happens to play piano too.  I fondly remember seeing him act in Oliver! in a New Orleans theatre when he was about 8 years old.  I told him recently, though he was not cast as Oliver, he was the star of the show to me.  He remembers waving from stage to my brother during the performance.  Check out his mosaic work on the other tab.

A poem Michael wrote me on my birthday! He posted this on my Facebook timeline:

For unto us a child was born--
My dear old cousin Jan!!!
Remember Cocoa Pebbles?
Well now we've switched to bran!!!

Mosaic

I loved the colors of two matte tiles I bought and created this series of the four seasons.  It highlights my graphics arts background and the use of positive/negative space.  In addition to the the two matte colors, I chose a single additional color to best represent each of the seasons:  notice the red berries in winter, the green stems of spring, the yellow sun rays of summer, and the orange leaves of fall.  I enjoyed making this series so much that I made a full color version of the seasons.  This series is called, “If Ever I Would Leave You (Monochrome).”

This mosaic is called “The Plot of Pantalone.”
I can just imagine what Pantalone must be whispering to Colombine on behalf of Leandro.
Of course it is all to benefit Pantalone in the end!
